Mental Source (“we,” “our,” “us”) is a wellbeing guidance and recommendation platform that helps people explore mental-health tools and resources suited to their needs. We combine psychology, technology, and empathy — and we take your privacy seriously.

We collect information in two categories:
- Personal Information (kept in a separate, secure database)
- Wellbeing & App Usage Information (anonymous or pseudonymous)
We do not sell personal information.
We do not provide medical advice.
We do not use your information to make medical or clinical decisions.
2.1 Personal Information (Stored Separately)
We store only neccessary personal information separately. This includes: Name, Email, Account authentication details (encrypted/hashed using industry standards means), and optional contact preferences.
This information is stored in a separate, encrypted user database. It is not stored in the same system as your wellbeing or usage data. We only collect the minimum needed to create and maintain your account.
2.2 Wellbeing and App Usage Information (Stored Separately)
This information does not include your name, email, or identity. It is stored in a different database and may include, but not limited to: Answers to wellbeing questionnaires, Your preferences and goals, How you use the App (e.g., clicks, time spent), Device or browser information and Aggregated or anonymized insights.
This information is saved in order to personalize the content provided to you, improve our service and improve the ML system.
We do not attempt to re-identify you from this information.
2.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We may use cookies to keep you logged in, Remember your preferences, Improve performance and Understand usage patterns
Cookies do not contain personal information. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some features may not work properly.

3. How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Provide and improve the App
- Deliver personalized recommendations
- Maintain your account
- Improve our tools and algorithms
- Ensure security and prevent misuse
3.1 Communications
We may send messages for: Onboarding, Service updates, Support responses and other Important notices
Newsletters or non-essential communications require your consent.
3.2 Research and Insights
We may use aggregated, anonymized data to understand user needs, Improve wellbeing recommendations, support responsible internal research and more.
We never share identifiable information for research or analytics.
4. How We Store and Protect Your Information
4.1 Data Separation (Privacy-by-Design)
We intentionally separate identifiable and non-identifiable data:
Database A – Personal Information (e.g. Name, Email, Password and other Account identifiers)
Database B – Wellbeing & Usage Data (e.g. Questionnaire responses, Preferences, App interactions, Anonymous metrics and more)
These systems are not combined unless you request a full data export or account deletion.
4.2 Security Measures
We use industry-standard protections such as Encryption, Hashed and salted passwords, Secure data storage and Access restrictions.
While no system is perfectly secure, we actively maintain and improve our safeguards.
5. How We Share Information
We only share information when necessary. We may share your data with service providers who help us operate the App, To comply with legal obligations, or With your explicit consent (for optional integrations)
We do not share data with advertisers or for marketing purposes.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the legal age of majority in their region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If such data is discovered, we will remove it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. When updates occur, we will revise the Effective Date and notify users when appropriate.
9. Jurisdiction
This Policy is governed by the laws of Pennsylvania, USA. Disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Pennsylvania courts.

12. HIPAA Comparison Statement
Mental Source is not a healthcare provider and does not store or process Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Because of this, HIPAA does not apply to our platform.
However, we voluntarily use many HIPAA-aligned safeguards — including encryption, secure storage, access controls, and separating personal information from wellbeing data — to help keep your information private and secure.
